I'm a software developer; originally from the UK, I now live on the island of Fyn, Denmark.
I design and build custom extensions to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
My work ranges from simple customizations to large-scale apps. As a former tech lead at a Microsoft partner, I have extensive experience in producing performant and well-structured code. Automated tests, APIs, reports, warehousing, finance, custom posting routines... and much more.
I build custom web applications, and can take a project from idea to production: defining the architecture, designing the user experience, and implementing both frontend and backend. My favorite tools are Vue.js and Azure storage.
I was born and grew up in the UK, but now I live on the beautiful island of Fyn. I work in software development, but I'm really a teacher at heart.
With an academic background in ancient Chinese literature, I started out my career as a Chinese teacher, working first in the UK, and then in Connecticut. Although I loved teaching, I needed to explore the world beyond the classroom, so I dived into entrepreneurship and set up a video production company together with my wife.
This work continued happily until Covid-19, which also corresponded with the birth of our second child. Then, I shifted track again. I had always enjoyed programming as a hobby, so I chose to make it my new career, starting firstly in web development, and later working in Microsoft Business Central development.
These days I divide my time between my own web app projects and client work. I'm always interested in learning new things and meeting new challenges. I'm especially interested in improving coding quality and processes.
When I'm not working, you might find me reading, playing with my kids, going for walk in the forest, or playing mandolin.
A web-based beading design application that converts images into bead patterns and generates printable instructions. Built in Vue with complex graphical operations and image processing. Developed from scratch and used by thousands around the world.
I led the development of a system that serves many school districts, working with sensitive data and multi-organization structures. Served as both product owner and technical lead, introducing automated testing and improving engineering practices.
I co-ran a video production company which focused on producing videos for non-profit organizations doing good work in the New Haven area of Connecticut. We worked especially with schools, local government, and philanthropic foundations.
Co-wrote a series of Mandarin Chinese textbooks culminating in preparation materials for GCSE-level examinations in the UK. Also created a learning management system for students of Chinese, used in over 20 schools.
I'm also a multi-instrumentalist and composer. I am currently working on reorganizing my piano compositions into a new collection.
